Working in collaboration with Bonk & Co and AGA, our Cookery Theatre will feature demonstrations from professional chef and presenter Christopher Trotter.

Christopher is a well-known professional chef; presenter, demonstrator and author with a passion

for seasonal produce sourced locally. He has been honoured by his region with the title Fife Food

Ambassador for his work in promoting food and hospitality. He is also a committee member of the

Guild of Food writers and works with some of the top food commentators from around the world.

As an author, Christopher has published many cookery books on Scottish cooking heritage and

traditions, as well as books on whole animal cooking.

Assisted by Deborah and Neil from Bonk & Co, Christopher will be creating delicious dishes using

seasonal and where possible, local produce selected from various stall holders exhibiting within our adjoining Food Hall. The dishes for each demonstration have been designed so that you can take to your kitchens with confidence, using produce available from the Food Hall. For those of you who are range cooker enthusiasts, there will be plenty of tricks and tips from Christopher and the Bonk & Co team on how to get the best out of your AGA.

Demonstrations will be held four times a day on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th August. At the end of each demonstration there will be a collection for Maggie’s Highland. Mia and her colleagues from the charity will be on hand to chat to you and tell you about all the amazing work they do to support people with cancer, their family and friends across the whole of the Highlands

The return of the cookery theatre sounds fantastic! I love when events like this bring people together through great food and creativity. It instantly makes me think about how important presentation is at such gatherings — not just the dishes, but the setup itself. When organizing a tasting area or VIP dining space, having elegant reserved table signs really elevates the experience and keeps things organized for guests. I recently saw some beautiful handcrafted designs at Kyiv Workshop — they’d fit perfectly in a setting like this. Details like that make the atmosphere feel more refined and welcoming, especially at events celebrating tradition and craftsmanship.

I love how the Moy Country Fair is bringing back the cookery theatre, giving visitors a chance to see food prepared with skill and passion. There’s something so inspiring about watching chefs create dishes live, especially when you get to learn techniques and flavour combinations along the way. It also makes me think about exploring cuisines from around the world at home. One of my favourites to try is argentina empanadas, and seeing how chefs handle fillings and pastry at events like this always gives me new ideas. It’s a perfect way to combine entertainment, learning, and a love of food.
